Addition
Extending existing properties can ensure the viability of historic resources by adapting them for contemporary use. HQ has advised on several addition projects, carefully balancing clients’ needs with regulatory agency requirements.
Landmarks Preservation Commission Review
Through historical research and the presentation of appropriateness arguments to the LPC, HQ collaborates with clients on projects involving staff-level reviews, the landmarks designation process, and Commission-level public hearings. HQ maintains an open dialogue with the LPC from the early planning stages of a project’s development.
New Building
New construction within historic districts or landmarked ensembles requires thoughtful consideration of character-defining features that may be impacted. HQ collaborates with project teams to develop contemporary design strategies informed by a preservation-based framework.
Research
